AGRICULTURE
The climate of Catbalogan is
conductive to crop production. The type of soil, which is predominant in the
municipality, is also suitable for the growing of crops yet agriculture has
played a minor role in the development of Catbalogan.
The number one
staple food of the town is mainly rice which is about 90% of the
populace depend on this grain and 10% in corn and other rootcrops
particularly in far flung barangays.
Productivity of
the municipality’s agricultural areas (farming) is low, caused by lack of farm
to market road particularly in farming barangays, situated in the interior part
of the municipality which affects the production cost as transport cost is high.
